Alcool probable : aux États-Unis, l'« arôme vanille » (vanilla flavor, ou vanilla flavoring) est fabriqué comme l'extrait de vanille, mais avec moins de 35 % d'alcool. Le TTB, qui le réglemente, l'appelle « vanilla flavor » : il contient donc généralement de l'alcool. L'étiquette ne précise ni la quantité ni la présence. Douteux (élevé) jusqu'à confirmation par un certificateur halal ou le fabricant. Une certification vegan ou casher ne lève pas ce doute : elle ne dit rien de l'alcool.
